Copyright Services
How do I get copyright protection?
Your original work receives copyright protection at the moment that it is created and fixed in a tangible medium. However, your work must be registered with the U.S. Copyright Office if you intend to file a lawsuit for copyright .
There are multiple categories under which creative works may be registered: Literary Works, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Other Digital Content, Motion Pictures and Photographs. It is important to make sure that your work is registered properly.
Some types of works are eligible for preregistration. This is available for unpublished works such as motion pictures, computer programs (e.g. video games), sound recordings, musical compositions, literary works, and marketing photographs that are currently being prepared for commercial distribution.
Oftentimes, copyright ownership may be transferred from one person or entity to another. Recordation of documents involving the transfer of copyright ownership is not required, but is encouraged.
All listed copyright services will be billed on a flat-fee basis. The estimated fees and costs will vary, depending upon the type and scope of the service requested.
